A little update!
Written by Carl in General News
Here is a long-awaited news post for you all regarding the recent events at GBGL. Political issues amongst admin staff, non-compliance with rules and mis-understanding of procedure has all lead to a communication breakdown between pretty much everyone here! Let me explain what we've concluded with our recent admin meeting and what we intend to do to progress as a league.
The initial problem:
The CSS Challenge Cup was initially set-up by Saint and whilst I do not intend to put the blame on anyone, both myself and Saint have to take part blame for this. A communication break-down between both of us led to the event being setup incorrectly on our Administration Control Panel and it was indeed this that prevented Saint from using the website to generate the fixtures. Our website has been designed in such a way that the fixtures can all be generated automatically - this is, however, providing that the event has been setup correctly, which in this instance it hadn't! Besides, this has now been resolved, I am back from my rather inconvenient one week holiday and the fixtures have now been generated.
The resolution to the problem:
Tonight we organised an urgent admin meeting. The resolution of this meeting was to design and develop a set of procedures for the entire admin meeting to follow - from muting abusive members to managing live events, we are creating strict procedures for it all. We furthermore intend to refine these all the time to create the perfect recipe for success. But what does this all mean for you? Well, the idea is that providing our admins follow such procedures correctly, we literally cannot go wrong. We have isolated that the problem with GBGL is that our admins, while competant, did not develop a consistant approach to administering the league. Everyone followed a different set of rules. So, from now onwards we aim to offer you a reliably consistant system that will work.
The afterthought:
We hope that this time we've got it right - it certainly sounds good on paper. After reviving a bit of team morale and developing a clear, concise and shared view of the future for the admin team as a whole, we are set to go. Once again, I would like to apologise for the problems we have encountered; it's generally been an amass of minor problems all contributing to one overall major problem. Thanks for sticking with us, we've got the knowledge to make it work this time.
It's really not easy getting it right, I will assure you. As hard as we try it always seems that there's either something we missed or something that didn't receive enough effort. With procedures and a good team spirit I know we will go far. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your evening's gaming and I look forward to seeing you in next week's CSS Challenge Cup!
Oh, and as a side note, ActionZ has taken over Saint's place as head of CS Source here at GBGL - wish him luck! Furthermore, 8Ball is now heading up CS 1.6!
